On my 2001,CDX i have HID dipped lights. Can i fit HID to the main beam units. I know that there would be a slight delay in full brightness and the pattern may be a bit strange due the the reflector design. I have already converted the front fog lights with a after market 4500k set. The reason i want to try this is because my house gravel driveway is approx a mile long and is pitch black at night. Already knocked over 2 wild boar in the last years. Although they taste nice they do my bumper no good.

why not fit 100watt bulbs to full beam, save the hassle

Tried the 100W pure white bulbs not too impressed with the output

In a nutshell, no.

Legalities determine that HIDs for full beam must remain on, and use a shutter to block them. Thats not going to be retrofittable.

If quality halogen bulbs aren't good enough, I'd suggest checking whats wrong with the lenses.

Lens are perfect. It's just the driveway is pitch black with both sides lined with tall trees. It's the only time i use full beam. My eldest son's 2011 range rover has standard HID full beam with little shutters that pop up on the bulbs and he hasn't got any special or projector type lens.

Thats the key, and the reason I think you'll find it impratical to retrofit. I assume that French laws around this match ours, as ours match euroland.

Villa I rented in Greece had about same length drive 

A lot of the old farm houses around here have very long drives. I got quotes to have some light installed but it ran into thousands of Euro's. My house is set right in the middle of my land.  As with all French postman they only deliver to the postbox at end of drive. Bit of a pain when you have to sign for a package.

If you have trees either side uplight them. With led uplights the cabling wont be that expensive, install might be a little high but if its your property then you and your visitors will enjoy the lights. Even posties might want to saunter up to the door!

Postmen don't deliver to the door in France unlike in the UK. I have thought about routing the lights in the trees but they are protected by law. They were planted by Napoleon troops in the 1790s to protect their camp from the heat and wind. Plus there are some ruins of a country house that belonged to Eleanor of Aquitaine French Queen 1122 -1204 married to King Henry II of England. We also have a few 12th century grave plots in the bottom field in the woods.

Us and the ghosts get on just fine. Every now and then the dogs dig up a bone or two. The farm house was built in 1598 by my wife's family.
 Tons of history in the area from the Knights templar upto when the Germans took over the town in the second war.
If you know the Indiana Jones films the scenes when he was in the submarine bays were filmed in the old sub hangers in the harbour. They are still there today but unused now.
