Morning all... thought i'd share my tales of misery. My wife certainly doesn't care LOL

So. I pick up an amazing 3.0 MV6 (V Reg) with awesome alloys, performance injection, imerscher kit, PS2, three screens, the works.
Bargain! But had to go all the way from Devon to the West Midlands to Rugby to pick it up.

She drives like a dream, though at about 80 she gets the wobbles. Wheels need balancing I assume!

15 days after buying her, I take her to to Exeter to get the wheels balanced. As I am sat indicating to turn right into ProTyre, a Picasso hits the back of me, sends me 180 degrees to the right, pushing up against the curb.

Needless to say I am not a happy chappy!

Find out yesterday that insurance company refuse to even assess the car and would rather just pay out on it (due to age).
I was going to insist on an assessment but, found a mint condition 2.6 V6 in grey in Plymouth.

It was on ebay and at about £500 when I saw it. Needed it now. So called the bloke up and offered him a fair amount more to take it off his hands there and then.

So... fastest turn around on getting a new miggy, which helps grieve the loss of the old one.

Right then, and more to the point, who refused to assess the vehicle? Your insurers or the other party? It's an important point because if you have claimed directly from the other party instead of via your insurance (this assumes you didn't then hit someone/thing else) they have no right to write off your vehicle as you don't have a contract with them It's a longer process but you can insist that they repair it or replace with an identical vehicle

It's been covered here a few times. The essence is that you have no contract with them so they must put you back into the same position you were in prior to the accident with no financial penalty to yourself

Yeah third party claims full liability

They initially offered bottom end but telling them that this would result in legal disputes over being financially out of pocket they offered me too end which was £60 more than I bought the car for!

Abit of filler, half a dozen spray paint cans and abit alot of tee cut, no problem...sorry..
glad it all turned out ok in the end...how about abit of "whip lash" compo to cover all your hassle

At least you have had the good fortune of finding another.

With that damage the old one was always going to be a write off, as one of mine was with a similar rear end shunt.

This was mine, and I got £1650 for it that paid totally for my current miggy!

Nah I'm too big to suffer from whiplash! Car tends to sit snugly around me! lol

Yes, and like you, it took some of the sting out of losing the old miggy.

Thats fixable,but it will probably cost a few hundred quid.Needs a bodyshop jig to pull the boot floor back to where it should be,then replacement bootlid & bumper.

I also have a V6 2.6 OMEGA B that i'm breaking - so i have the parts lol
