The wife made me sell it in 1974 so we could buy a new living room carpet.

Hmm. Jag or floorboards. :-/ Tough one. I'd put up with the splinters, I think. :y

I wouldn't want anyone to think my life is ruled by floor coverings...

Actually, the Jag wasn't running all that well, we never used it and it kept getting broken into.  We were living in the centre of Amsterdam.  Over a bar.  And we didn't have a cat.

In fact, I got more money for the car than I paid for it, which made me quite happy until I found out they were quite rare (rear?) over there, and I could have got about four times as much.   :'(

Sounds like it was a really tough life ;). Not sure I'd have been in a fit state to drive a Jag very often in such circumstances!  ;D

Can't comment. In my case, it's what it says on the tin. I promptly dispose of all my disposal income, always have done. That's why it's called disposable...?  :D

I was 11 in that wonderfull summer of '76 and yes it seemed to go on forever or is that just how I remembered it? I remember coming back from Swindon visiting relatives in my Dad's Vauxhall Victor (see, it runs in the family) up the M4 and everywhere was brown and blasted, so dry. I don't remember any rain that summer. Happy days.....

There was no rain that summer, my wife was pregnant (daughter born August 8th)
Lots of grass & woodland fires though
We were rebuilding an old cottage in Bursledon & it was ideal weather for it, no interuptions by rain, & everything dried out beautifully, mortar, plaster, paint etc.
