My omega has had Irmscher springs installed prior to purchase which lowered the front. Unfortunately, the car grounds out coming over the lip of the drive to our house. I have the original springs. Is there a how to to change over these springs? Previous owner said the headlight levelling sensors had to be put on stalks as they wouldn't work otherwise. Anyone know anything about these? Hopefully I can just do away with the stalks and reinstall.

Spring change is fairly straightforward. Just be mindfull of the 2 bolts to shock body, as these set the camber angle, and will need setting up correctly after the work is done, for full geometric set up. From there its just the top mount nut and the drop link. Plus you will need spring compressors for fitting standard springs, where as the Irmscher ones don't need them.
 How you set the camber on refitting will depend on how far away your nearest set up company is. If its just up the road then fine, it its miles away and you have decent tyres then an attempt to replicate the same camber angle will be needed to save excessive tyre ware.

If you can get both front wheels off the ground it will be easier, as the roll bar will be level, and you won't have to lever it about to do the drop links.

Okay, finally started to do the change back but have had a horrible thought half way through. Do irmscher springs require irmscher shocks and if these have been fitted am I doing the wrong thing by putting the original front springs back on these?

Also one of the bottom strut bolts is proving really hard to undo. I have soaked in release fluid but so far have only managed to damage the nut. Would it help to apply some heat to this nut or do I risk damaging the shock by boiling the oil in the shock?

No! Thanks for the advice.

There should be a sticker on the inboard side shock body. It will be covered in muck but should still be visible.

Thinking further, I'd be surprised if those springs where fitted to Elite shocks.  I didn't think of that originally.

Hi folks

Managed to contact the previous owner. Front shocks are original so no problem there....Apart from the 18mm top strut bolt that refuses to move. Popping out this morning to get a 6 sided 18mm socket so that I don't do any more damage to the nut.
Rear shocks are new. I'm hoping I can just leave these on and that the rear springs don't lower the car too much as it looks a difficult job to do?

Fitting elite self levelling springs to stock or non sl shocks won't work. The car will drag its arris on the floor.

Either fit sl shocks as well, or fit standard springs.
