There are only two Admins now that own Omegas, and the two Mods own one and a half between them.

Thing is I think it's going to be a very long time til the last omega is dead.

i've always wondered though whether we could have a ''other car maintenance guide'' section as we have so many other car owners on here.... so if EMD does his starter motor he can place a guide with pics or if martin shows us how to fit a pink soft roof to his cabrio :-X ;D then there's a guide with piccies.... i like to look at pictures so i'd love this :)

just a thought  :y

 :o Hope not  ;D

Surely model, or at least marque specific forums must be better?

Take EMD's little pug. We have one member, AFAIK (maybe nobody else will own up ;D), with a 106. Yet on a little Pug forum, there must be 10s/100s of members with one. So where, on paper anyway, is the most encompassing advice to be found?

I accept that many of the other forums, esp those with a younger audience, are just full of shite and chavs - I was active on the Rover 25 forums, but its like wading through treacle, as unless you were fitting a bodykit or a 100GW amp that can run off a ciggy lighter socket, your posts would go unanswered.

But the fact that some other sites are not up to scratch, thats not OOF's beef to be honest. Should we spend time, effort and money to fix this? I'm not sure we could anyway - when OOF started, we ensured we had the right (at the time) personnel behind it; a tried and tested moderator, an Omega guru, a techie to run it, and a flamboyant character.

As to OOF's future, thats a discussion for another day.

Would it be fair to say that a forum can be as model specific as it likes, if it can't fix the cars then its useless. Other than owners interacting of course.

Can I just point out that my suggestion wasn't a ''we should go in this direction''..... it was just a fun little add-on that I thought would be quite cool. Nothing more  :y

And perfectly valid debate it is too, Webby :y

We like debates on OOF. As long as they don't drag into arguments, which is why I think some subjects are on slippery ground, as people are so entrenched in their views, and refuse to accept other viewpoints. This becomes the nasty side of OOF  :'(

We used to ban oil threads for this reason, but it is ludicrous not allowing oil threads on a car site ;D

Maybe we should ban political threads and tyre threads, as again, viewpoints are too entrenched, and you can guarantee arguments?  I hope we don't have to, but thats 100% dependent on members taking part, and accepting their view may not be the correct view for everyone. Not everyone needs SportMaxx TT tyres ( :-[) and OOF is not a wing of a one policy party.

Ah shucks, I've said too much again  :-X
