key programming

having had a problem with my 3 button key fob (break in circuit board) i have bought a new genuine vauxhall one :o
in am using the original key with chip. Will this need to be reprogrammed to the key via tech 2 as i cant get the car to lock or unlock with the new fob fitted.

chip in the key is just for the immobiliser, to allow you to start. Nothing to do with remote locking/locks, you need to get the fob programmed to the car with tech2.

You will need the car pass for this  :y

50/50 you could go to Brackley Northants, or Alton, Hampshire  :y

could be cheaper to go to main dealer considering the fuel cost.
