oil sump gasket for 3.2
« on: 09 March 2013, 21:00:38 »

Is the one available for the 3.2? I know VX use grey sealant ans this is what I used when I replaced the oil pan. Over a month ago, chrisgixer commented how clean the sump was when he did wishbones so it wasn't leaking from day one

Today I had the car on ramps and noticed a slight oil drip around the plug and some oil on the pan bolts. Don't want to use sealant again tbh, would prefer to use gasket this time.

Grey sealant IS the gasket. Just makes sure that you apply a reasonable bead of the stuff on the inside of the bolt hole.  :y you sure it's not leaking from higher up & running down to the sump pan?  :-\ The level sensor is a good bet as well as obviously the cam covers.  ???

Camcovers were changed last May with genuine. Level sensor is inside though isn't it?

The level sensor is inside the sump. A lead runs up to a connector on top of the sump which relies on a circlip and a rubber washer for a seal.

As Andy H says .... yes it is. But there's a horizontal 'flange' at the back where the sump pan bolts with the plug to the level sensor.

I see, will check that too.

So I guess I'll redo it with the grey goo that I have (if that is where its leaking)

I remember seeing a rubber gasket but it was around £30 but can't remember if it was for the 3.2

Hello everyone,

I've got some leakage around the upper sump, number 17 I think:

The numbers I was given are: 9128256 and 652612. Are these the correct numbers for Y32SE?

Yes, I am pretty sure. I changed my cambelt couple of weeks ago, cleaned the areas with obviously-wrong-cleaning-product and a few days later I noticed a lot of oil at the bottom and the gasket in question was all wet. The top part of the engine is fine.

I had to drive 900 miles and at the beginning of my journey it was leaking badly, but later it all dried out and stopped leaking. No doubt it will start leaking again. Someone told me to just try tighten the bolts.
