Couple of quick questions
« on: 10 March 2013, 08:03:35 »

Following advice on here to other members I've bought a crank sensor for my V6 to carry as aback up.Now the questions are:a]what tool do I need to be carrying in order to replace it should I ever need to and b]is it a simple roadside fix?

You need the right size Torx socket and yes, it can be done at the roadside :y

I carry no tools, but do carry a spare CS. If the breakdown occurs "Green Flag" will be summoned to do the work (under supervision :) ) with lots of flashing lights for safety and their guy getting dirty ... :)

That sounds like a good plan!

Just think about it .. impossible to change without jacking the car, I don't carry a trolley jack and axle stands, and there is no way I'm getting under a car on the vauxhall jack !! (Cowardice rules)

I'm often "reasonably" dressed and I'm not lying on the ground changing bits wearing a suit !! (snob)

So in order to be able to do a simple job like this I'd need a boot full of jacks/axle stands/ clothing etc etc ...   not going to happen  :(  (lazy git)

Green Flag  :y :y :y :y  (other breakdown services may offer similar)  :)

Utter sensibility IMO.
Sentiments echoed regarding Green Flag ... it's what we pay 'em for, after all. ;)

Carry a pair of overalls.Try and get n/s/f wheel up on a kerb or similar, then breathe in and crawl under, seemples.
I have put on a couple of stone since I thought of this plan though,so whether it would actually work now,I really dont know. ;D
