just went out in the wifes car Citroen xsara diesel all was fine then when braking at low speed the abs came into action no warning lights, abs light still comes on then goes out arfter 2 seconds as normal so in my small mind cant be a sensor or am i wrong any ideas .
ps have taken the abs fuse out and the brakes seem to work fine no dragging or pulling .

It is probably a sensor fault, it may be ok on self test at start up but is struggling to read wheel speed   when moving, needs plugging in and live data read on the move :y

what about the reluctor ring? Smart cars like SWMBO's tend to rot the ring which gives similar problems

Could well be Andy, happens a lot on Renaults when the ring cracks and freewheels on the driveshaft, not seen it on PSA but doesn't mean it can't happen.

If the ring has just cracked but is otherwise good just clean it up and the driveshaft and use JB weld to glue it on,put a cable tie around it to hold it in place while setting :y

Mercedes' answer is a complete drive shaft, but you can buy aftermarket rings separately quite cheaply. Maybe if it's a common Citroen fault, an aftermarket reluctor ring is available  :-\

Do not try and tap it on as it will crack, heat the new ring in the oven as high as it will go and drop the driveshaft joint in ice for an hour before fitting,it will drop on and shrink itself to fit :y
