Clutch or flywheel?
« on: 09 April 2013, 22:13:27 »

On the manual 2.2, i get vibration when pulling away from stationary, up to say 20/30mph most noticeable when cold, but also there when warm. When pulling away in a straight line or as a turn. Feel it thought seat mostly, but sounds like its from engine bay area.

Pull from say 30-50 or 50-80 in same gear cannot feel it, so kinda rules out the diff? (no whine at speed either, all good there)

162k original clutch, on its way out?  :-\

My initial reaction is clutch, possibly contamination.

Could be clutch do you have any slip? does it slip when you are driving and keep accelerator in same positon then push cluch pedal down till it revs then release it quickly, or does it pickup ok. Also how about prop bearing.  :-\

If it was DMF you would know it, clutch contamination or badly warm maybe.

Worth checking engine / gearbox / prop. central support mounts for security, but most likely clutch judder. Do you have any signs of oil leaks around the bellhousing?

Not looked to be honest, this cold weather has given me no enthusiasm for looking under the car  :-[

If you end up swapping the flywheel, you may as well change the rear crank oil seal whilst it's accessible :y

 ;D ;D ;D

Sadly when the time has come to sell my trusty steed I've never been able to do it, 50mpg effective, trade parts, comfy, never let me down. Just can't do it!

Did you sell that LPG'd MV6?  :-\

I'll second that  :y
Don't know what its real name is but check the bolts on the big round rubber thingy  :-[ that bolts between the driveshaft and the gearbox.
I had the same noise on mine last year and it turned out it had 2 bolts missing and was juddering like a good un  >:(
