Lincolnshire airspace ...........
« on: 10 April 2013, 23:58:56 »

Have I mentioned that I really like living in Lincolnshire?

Only this afternoon, with the sun shining I was working from home and heard a proper plane. Went to have a look & the BBMF Dokota DC3 was doing circuits from RAF Waddington, turning around above my house (almost) and so on.  :y

I'm treating myself to a ride in a Lancaster in a few months time - honest  8).

Bring it on.

You must be looking forward to the flight in the lancaster. I saw one last year at RAF Conningsby at a family day. Lovely aircraft. :y

It's not a flight - it's a ground taxi-run ............

Under-steer is when the front of the car hits the wall, and over-steer is when the rear of the car hits the wall.
Power is how fast you hit the wall and torque is how much of the wall you take with you.

Now that is twice in a week! the other day I discovered that you can fly, as a passenger, in a Spitfire and now a Lancaster, I had no idea such activities were available, mind the spit flight was about £1k cos swmbo looked; you could hear her thinking, after I passed a comment....... :D :D :D

Never flew in a Spit .. but did get paid to fly in a Lanc (or more accurately ... I was being paid whilst flying in a Lanc .. same as when I flew in that loose formation of flying rivets called a Shackleton ... and that converted cruise liner called a Nimrod ) but I was certainly paid to fly in the Hercules, for many, many enjoyable years .. :)

enjoy the only chance in Europe to be inside a Lancaster Bomber with all 4 Merlins running. We place guests enjoying a ride in a variety of positions inside i.e: Rear Turret; Middle Turret; Radio Operator's seat; Navigator's seat; Cockpit and just behind; Bomb aimer's position.   Price- £260.00 Places MUST be pre-booked! Can you get in the rear turret Rob, I'll park that blooming Rover at the end of the runway and you can give it a burst...  ;)

Or thereabouts yes. I booked it ages ago - using the proceeds of selling my car actually  8)
I'm hoping it will be the most memorable spend for the money.

I've never flown in an RAF plane, but was paid whilst doing several flights in a USAF C5 Galaxy "when I was a lad" - they were interesting experiences for sure.

There is talk about putting Lanc NX611 "Just Jane" back where it should be in the air. It's already having/had  fresh Merlin's fitted/being fitted.   You can at the moment win a taxi ride by winning a raffle they have before each taxi run, I tried a couple of times, NO LUCK, can't afford price of seat :'( :'(   Take some ear plugs with you, engines are run up in pairs, no use trying to talk. I moved from infront of aircraft and stood by the wing tip, thought it would be safer if the brakes failed :y :y
