Log into router issue
« on: 16 April 2013, 07:44:34 »

For the first time since having BT infinity broadband it stopped working last night. So went to log in on my desktop as that is the nearest PC.
All internet explorer would do is keep automatically adding the HTTP// in front of bthomehub.home. Try as I may it would not do it without.
So turned on laptop and it worked fine first time.

Both PCs running Windows 7 and I think IE9, the laptop does have chrome on it aswell (thanks to youngest) I am assuming I am looking for a setting somewhere.

Any idea where I should be looking please ?

Many Thanks chaps.

Oh yesshould add the desktop is rarely used on th internet, it is mainly a games machine, any games from solitaire and hoyle board games up to COD and GTA and mainly in single player mode, don't do multiplayer anymore except locally with my son.

Thanks Cem, same problem I am afraid. The browser just automatically adds HTTP// to whatever is typed into the address bar.

OK, I will try again when I get home from work, but that was the only difference between laptop and desktop. Desktop automatically put HTTP in and laptop at least appeared not to put it in.

I am confused, used to be quite good at this kind of thing, but seem to be more of a luddite every day. Even walked out of the mobile phone shop at the weekend without a phone as not willing to pay how much they wanted for it.

All browsers should prefix the http:// if you forget :)

On the desktop, fire up command prompt, and type
ipconfig /all

may need to scroll up, but what is ip for your network adapter? Half expecting it to start 169

http://192.168.1.1 should bring up your router in your browser.

That won't happen, she is the daughter I never had. In our house she is the master and rules the roost, followed by the wife then me.
Many men think they rule the house. In reality I have never met one yet, they talk it up but when push comes to shove the women rule, or the men live alone  ;D
