Problem we've got when Estate dies is finding another Estate the size of the Omega - guess we'll have to go Merc

Same here, nothing to replace it with really. So far the old girl is fine, 85K miles, no rust, and well maintained, drives like a dream. :y

The only thing that does concern is the lack of value it for some reason it is written off, classes C and D with a buy back could  be repaired but otherwise were stuffed :(

But if you have a good Omega, not covered in rust....surely if its looked after, it will last as long as some of the really old vehicles on the road.
Mine have been given the once over and the reports are 'nothing wrong at all'. I have owned cars in the past that were more susceptible to rust than the omega. But we got on and repaired it. If you catch rust early, no problem.
Obviously tax costs and fuel costs come into play, but that again depends on what you use the car for, and your financial circumstances.
Any car, if looked after, bodily and mechanically, will last. If you are going to treat it with contempt, its got no chance !!!!! :y

is not the vectra C a good alternative had an 07 reg estate diesel auto once bloody fantastic think it was even bigger than the miggy ceratinley more economical :'( 6 speed auto great, but would prefer a miggy any day if i was honest, may need a company work horse soon and the vectra would be my first choice :y

We are finding the same, XF Sportback would be preferred. Few years before they are reasonable prices though  :(

Mine is 18yrs old close 300 000 km on the clock smaller issues with engine fortunately just sometimes hard trouble no though, smaller rust spots on the bottom of doors...not thinking of change her but must admit I would fancy a Rover 75 diesel...The briton designe is fantastic like Jag or Aston Martin I really like them but the Rover was the one I would afford.  :y

I'm with Terby on this one, don't look after your car then it'll bite you in arse just when you least expect and rightly so,as to the rust issues I guess I'm lucky as I can access a ramp fairly easily and can get a detailed look at the underside and get to spray liberal amounts of Bilt Hamber S-50 around, and hopefully it'll help the car to survive a few extra years.External body issues are a bit easier to deal with as long as you get on them as soon as they appear,I agree that it's not every ones idea of fun grinding bits off your pride and joy and although I swear and throw stuff around when I'm doing it I do like having a crack at minor body repairs as using the the local bodyshops would cost the usual arm and a leg and cost more than the cars are worth. :y
