I started his thread based around politics as that subject, to me in any event, had become tedious. I deliberately did not moderate anything on previous politics threads to the best of my recollection, unless they stepped out the bounds of common decency and forum guidelines.
I deliberately kept the thread tight to politics initially so as to concentrate core posters to the thread. As anticipated, thread drift has taken place and perhaps its time to amplify on some of the points raised earlier in the thread.
Admin have no agenda other than as set out in the guidelines whereby OOF is for the benefit of owners of the omega marque and to maintaining it as economically as possible.
What has become apparent as the forum has evolved is something that has been discussed many times previously - used to be a right laugh on here, sides sore at the keyboard, partner wondering what the fek I'm laughing at etc etc.
Perhaps now the omega is fast becoming drift or banger material then the 'enthusiast' of past is becoming a rare beast. With that comes differing folks and their attitudes which when infused into a forum bred from a diffent mindset comes areas where confuddlement and misunderstanding abound.
Perhaps the admin team is too much old skool and not able or willing to accept change?
Perhaps the membership base has changed substantially that OOF is a shadow of its former self? Perhaps that's a good thing? Should the longer established members chastise or reeducate the up and coming youngsters. Or vice versa?
I still maintain that gendiss at present reads as very much a closed shop to newbies. It is an extremely difficult area for someone to become 'accepted'. One way I see for this to be addressed is if the core of posters in gendiss could spread their talents into ther sections and not just a 5 word welcome in newbies.
Show that we ARE a community and not just a postage/moan box forum with car bits hanging off it.
And as for not reading something that does not interest you, well, some of the admin team do try to read all posts (you reading this TB :-)) so some of the boring, repetitive, daily mail type reposts DO become a reason to reach for a sharp knife as far as keeping some sanity alive on the forum is concerned.
So now to walk the hound and see what happens next.
