Floor Rust

Whilst I had the car on a jack earlier today,I noticed the passenger side floor area has started to disintergrate :-X :'(

It seems that its the section that has 2 large black rubber grommits in it which I assume are drainage plugs and if you push it with a screw driver it just goes through. What caught my eye was when the car was raised water ?? seemed to be dripping from the  rubber bung nearest the front so had a closer look and think the water has started rotting the floor .

Question is firstly can this be welded /repaired....and secondly why would this be leaking water as must be rainwater within a chassis member or box section.

Lifting the Passenger side carpet & soundproofing will probably reveal that you've had a very longstanding water leak into the footwell, either from a regularly blocked scuttle drain, or a loose/missing grommet in the drain box section area, a leaking windscreen or a badly sealed door rubber :-\

So its a trip to see a man with a welder then ?.

Never suspected anything a miss as scuttle has been regularly cleaned out ..so maybe windscreen.

Need to add that to the list of ..."jobs which need doing"..work/money pit mounting  >:(

When the skuttle drain on my diesel blocked I lifted the carpet to help it dry out. After seeing how thick the sound proofing was on the bulk head I decided to remove it all and swap it for one I was breaking. It would have taken months to dry out on its own :(
