hazard lights coming on overnight
« on: 04 May 2013, 07:03:16 »

1999 petrol manual 2 litre Omega
Yesterday I looked out of door, saw Omega with its hazards lights flashing. I unlocked car with fob and the flashing stopped. They were not flashing when I locked it the night before.

This car did the same thing to me three years ago. I cured it by changing the K46 relay. I can change it again, but I wonder if there may be an underlying fault. Any suggestions?

Thank you gentlemen. Why did I not think of that?

Power horn not disconnected, but had not sounded. Car is 14 years old, I guess the battery is dead. I presume the alarm self cancels after 10 minutes, so will not threaten the battery, so I can ignore it. Nobody will steal a 14 year old Omega, will he?

Alarm self cancels right enough but leaves hazards flashing as I recall. Sounds like power sounder batteries are gubbed so unit should be removed or replaced as they have a habit o self combusting. Couple of instances on here with cars being written off by burning powersounders. Also, seperate alarm horn is also broken and needs replaced.
