2.5TD HBV change
« on: 08 May 2013, 15:49:37 »

Hello everyone. I have carried out a search in the whole forum, specifically for a 'how to' on changing the HBV on a 2.5 TD.

I find myself requiring this for my local (in the UK) garage man. I sent him an email yesterday about the upcoming job and he said to my wife when she booked the car in that he had never heard of it. Basically I need a guide to send to him so he has some idea of where to start.

I see there is a 'how to' for the V6 petrol from 2007 (thanks Mr GastronomicKleptomaniac) is the procedure roughly the same for the straight six oil burner or is it in a worse location?

There was also one for the desmond variety, is that more or less relevant to what I need him to know?

any advice would be gratefully received, especially advice on the time that should be taken to carry out the job.

Cheers

From memory you cant miss it, very accessible.  its also a different type from the petrol models.

I can remember a picture, possibly from TheBoy in the dim and distant past.

Mounted on side of engine. About 10s to change, and another 5m to ensure coolant is topped up and bled.

OK, so a reasonably competent mechanic should be able to recognise it and change in a coupe of minutes yes?

Don't suppose there is an archive pic of this anywhere is there???

Cheers for the info so far
