if you're going to dig them out - DON'T cut them down. Leave enough left out of the ground to provide leverage (and maybe somewhere to attach the tow rope?)

Copper nails will kill them.................eventually, takes a while though, took nearly a year to kill off grape vine stumps in my back garden, they just kept wanting to grow out from the roots!
For the most stubborn of the two I resorted to drilllng out the core and filling up with the equivalent of nitromors, less liquid so would stay in the core and not leach out too much.

you can paint the stumps with Glysophate (eg Roundup,Resolva) most weedkillers will do the job, especially if used neat. if you live near a watercourse or have porous ground do not use sump oil because if the environment agency trace it back it will cost a horrendous amount of bucks. !!

a good systemic weedkiller will do it round up is very good, drill a couple of holes in the stump and pour it in neat
for general weed brush then spray it as per bottle instructions. if it kills off the grass just replant with grass seed after a good rain shower

Been clearing some bushes, shrubs small trees etc from the garden; I intend to cut down to ground level but will be unable to remove them, what is the best think to kill them off?...... 

Roundup or Bayer:-  either brush on or mix, drill and pour

You need something that will get to the root tips

i wish someone cut my mini trees down . 8 foot tall now

It's hard graft, but the best way is to dig them out , i did some at my parents old house , it was a lot of effort but a cleaner job in the end, can you get a mini digger near them?

Drill the stumps as deep as you can, hammer some cooper tubes into the holes and fill will diesel / Engine Oil.
