omega saloon - daft question
« on: 17 May 2013, 19:07:23 »

Considering I've owned Carltons then omegas since 1990  :-[

I've never owned or even looked closely at an omega saloon.
Do the rear seats fold down completely like the estate?
If not, is the boot is big enough for a folding wheelchair + some
luggage (say a couple of suitcases), rather than using the back seats?

Just thinking about buying a saloon, rather than an estate - and would prefer not to take a
trailer if we go on holiday.

Seats do fold down in saloon, but not as flat as Estate  :y

I'm guessing that there is no way of modifying a saloon to fit estate rear seats which fold flat?
I know that in general the forum always says "estate rears don't fit saloons", but anything can be made to fit, if you put enough effort in. [1]

The bench doesn't move, so backs don't quite go flat.

The opening in the boot through the back seats isn't massive, so you would need to try I'm afraid.

I've never owned a Carlton, but the Omega's seats fold the same way as a Senator's do/did.  :y

Never had a Senator  :(
Always wanted one.

But I've only ever had estates - except for one fiat bravo sh*theap hatchback that lasted 3 months.

Hard to describe,so I went out and took a couple of pics.Forgot to measure aperture, but can do that later.

Seats folded flat.Centre armrest backing springs up a bit but will sit flat with a bit of weight on it.

Aperture. This one has an LPG tank in the way,but you get the idea.
