Auto stalling at junctions
« on: 18 May 2013, 17:39:39 »

looking at this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-VAUXHALL-OMEGA-ELITE-V6-AUTO-SILVER-/281108103177?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item4173594009
on the bay

Any ideas on what could be causing the stalling?
Fuel pump? (or is that only diesels?)
Torque convertor (as listing says)?

I'm guessing an auto box repair is going to be specialist only 400 quid+ ?
If it's the fuel pump, will a mFl '98 3.0 fuel pump fit a 2003 3.2?

I'm going to go down and have a look at it on monday - I'll be doing a paperclip test for the fault codes, and obviously I'm aware of all the standard checks for second hand omegas.

Is there anything specific I should be looking for, as regards this fault, and autos in general?

It's 3.2, hence drive by wire throttle, so you do the easier pedal trick ...... not the paper clip test  ;)  ;)  ;)

I doubt it'll be a gearbox fault ...... possibly blocked breathers as suggested  :-\  :-\

Sounds like it could be MAF. Pattern £30-£40

Genuine always for MAF, been proven time and time again here.

Of course you can lead a horse to water, whether they drink or not is another question  ;)

Worth doing a pedal trick if you visit the car, should tell you something  :)

if it's the MAF, it won't be a problem - I'll just take the one off my dead 3.0 MV6

pedal trick instructions already printed out.

3.0 MAF will be different to a 3.2 MAF. ;)

Do you want/expect a full service history of a £550 car?  ??? ??? ??? The dealer would charge more than that for a full service on my car  :y :y
