2.2 CD value
« on: 19 May 2013, 08:50:59 »

Old chap from my local has had a 2.2 since new, think it's a 2001. He has replaced it with a new car and the mig is about to run out of MOT and has no tax. He says it is not running right and basically wants shut. I'm guessing it needs a cam sensor or MAF.

Bottom line is I will probably make an offer but can't see it being worth more than scrap value at £200, as I know I can fix it easy enough it's still only going to be worth about £600 with a fresh MOT, am I off the mark scrap value wise?

if he has had it from new and he will share history with you you might get more than scrap value - depends on mileage/condition of course

if regular oil changes have been logged in the history it should be good.
The engine sump breather usually gets clogged, so run your fingers around the rear of the cam cover, bet it`s damp with oil.

Had a look at this, 2 codes stored which were manufacturers control unit?, and a random transmission one, I remember an ols 2.2 of mine giving odd codes when the cam sensor was buggered so think it might be that causing it to run rough at times.

Guy is putting it in for an MOT to see what work it will need then make his mind up what to do with it, nice car really so fingers crossed!
