lpg callibration problems
« on: 19 May 2013, 10:49:45 »

Firstly, car runs great on petrol.

Lpg in the tank
Reducer gas pressure set to approx. 1.1 bar
Start lpg calibration using synchro software
Initially all 6 petrol injectors working ok.
Software starts to set up the gas injectors.
According to the laptop, lpg injectors 3 & 5 have no feed / signal.
Cancel lpg setup.
Lpg injectors turn off BUT petrol injectors refuse to kick in and the car only runs on 4 cylinders.
Shut down synchro software on the laptop and the petrol injectors start up and the car again runs like a dream.

Connected my slightly dodgy Chinese friend up and check the Petrol ecu's codes.
Petrol cylinders showing backfire on pots 4 & 5.

Now Lpg injectors are numbered with petrol injectors in brackets

1 (1)
2 (3)
3 (5)
4 (2)
5 (4)
6 (6)

I'm thinking that I've got the piggyback wiring between 3 (5) and 5 (4) the wrong way round  :-\
Can anybody concure ?

Once the ECU detects a misfiring cylinder it will disable injector drive for that cylinder until the engine is restarted.

I think your guess of crossed wiring is likely.  You can sometimes see this my watching the petrol injector durations in the AC software. 1,2,3 should all be the same duration, and 4,5,6 should be a different duration.

Senior Gonads say nup  ::) :(

All wired correctly.
Now thinking that I may have a couple of dodgy spark plugs  :-\
The theory behind that is ............. runs great on petrol BUT as the synchro software tries to time up the lpg timing / mixture, because the lpg won't burn properly on a knackered plug, its putting it down as a chronic misfire and shutting the injectors down  :-\

Opinions welcome  :)

Chill Mr nads. I found both my cam covers leaking when I fitted my LPG kit. I like you can do plenum/inlet removls in my sleep using nothing but an axe, toaster and house hold bleach.

 ;D ;D ;D

The missus and lad have hidden Percy the lump hammer this time  ;D ;D
Pulled it all apart last night
The cover seals are a bit on the hard side but I've got a 12 month old set off the breaker (yes i'm skint) so there've been sat in a bucket of white spirit to remove most of the gunge and keep them soft  :y

Just hope it doesn't rain now  ::) :D
