spare key reprogram
« on: 22 May 2013, 22:49:47 »

Hi guys ive just bought a vectra c 03 plate and i have a key problem, firstly there is no chip in any of the keys so im thinking its been placed near to the ignition car will start with both keys, but i do have an issue with the remote fobs for unlocking the doors and deactivating the alarm. I have 2 3 button fobs the 1st fob only has one button on the pcb (previous owner tried to repair) one small section of this pcb where the buttons connect is damaged however if i short out the lock and un lock this fob works fine, now fob 2 has had all 3 buttons repalced at some point each button will light the led on the key but will not open the door lock or lock it. I have tried to reprogram this fob to the car but nothing happens, so what im thinking is that as the chip is near the ignition from key 1 this is stopping the fob from key 2 being programed to the car ??

The transponder chip is nothing to do with the central locking  ;) ;)

As you have found out, the later Vx keys have the transponder in the main fob, so no transponder chip.

Not sure of what tool you are using to program keys, but be desperately careful if you are using that skanky illegal chinese clone of a crappy code reader. In fact, I would passionately recommend against it. It does shag ECUs.
