starting problem
« on: 25 May 2013, 13:58:28 »

Hoping someone can  put their finger on this one. OK i had to take my Ommy off the road over winter due to being a bit strapped for cash, however i'm now planning to go back on the road 1st June, I charged the battery and it started second turn of the key so parked in driveway. The following day went to start it for MOT and only just started after nearly killing battery, passed MOT ok,but now only starts after about 6-7 turns of key then it runs fine. I seem to remember last year when turning ignition on it made a whirring sound as if something was powering up the noise is not apparent now .
Any ideas ,sorry for big blog but wanted to give whole story thank you

Do the paperclip test (as per maint. guide) and post up the codes.Sounds like it might be yet another crank sensor.

Can't see throttle body causing that, as above read the codes, more likey a cam or crank sensor fault  :y

And? Still can't see the connection. Left my 2.2 un-used for a year, fired back up no issues. 3.2 was once left for 5 months, same no problems there.

should not be be so quick as you cannot count the flashes . It's a bit tricky & takes a bit of getting used to first time you attempt it .

I get SWMBO to sit in the passenger seat with a pen & paper & write down the numbers as I count them . Seems to work ;D ;D

another idea would be to video the sequence & play it back in slow-mo if you have that facility available   :-\  HTH  :y

Nope, should only be the "spanner" light
