Converting Manual to Auto
« on: 05 June 2013, 22:39:29 »

As above really, is this a difficult job? not that I would be doing it, so I guess, would it be expensive? also aimed at our in house mechanics..... :) :)

there are mechanical+electrical jobs that must be done properly.. and the auto tranny is damn heavy..

propeller shafts are also different length .. if every part is under hand will take a whole day or more for a mechanic.. so wont be cheap imo..

also you will need electric schemas for cruise switch.. and mid must be re-programmed..

and definitely worth all that hassle :y

Quite a big job yes,and why would you want to ? probably lose at least 10-15% on fuel economy. ;)
If you want it done it might be worth PMing Serek as he has done a few iirc (although more likely the other way round, but ame principles & methods etc). ;)

Because swmbo, and me tbh, will now only run an auto as an everyday car, and there is a rather nice heavy oil Mig estate for sale, but it is manual........ :-X

Putting a used slushbox into that car is borderline criminal :-\

Its often been said on here that the diesel omega engine and autobox is a horrible combination. ::)

So why is the Rover 75 2.5TD Auto a popular car, same engine and gearbox? a car I have pondered about..... :) :)
