Hope someone can advise. I have 2.2 Omega estate GLS '02  The clock has some of the lights missing. At last years service I had all the dash lights replaced as they were gradually going one by one but on the clock parts of the numbers are missing, still readable but the garage said that the clock unit needs replacing. Is that correct or can it be fixed easily?  :D

Strange for a garage to say that after replacing some...If Ive read you right.

Its a 10 minute job to remove the clocks panel and change the lamps.

There is a how to guide in the maint section.

Are we talking MID, GID etc here?  Dead pixels?

If pixels are the little dots that make up the numbers in the clock section, then yes.

Its an acronym for the "display" unit that holds the clock, radio stations, computer messages etc. ;)

GLS will be a TID, and they do suffer duff pixels.

They can be repaired, but very fiddly. Replacement with a known good from a breaker is probably the best way forward.
