Having now read lots of posts here on all sorts of topics, I'm now quite concerned about finding a good local group of garages to do the work on my Omega. Can anyone recommend a garage for general maintenance (all of it, I can't do anything, I have a smattering of knowledge but if I have to change the wheel the nuts would be so loose the thing would probably come off!) and one for doing the wheel-balance thing.
I'm in Whitchurch, Shropshire; work in Wrexham; originate in Chester (and have much of my family are still there so am always there).
I had hoped that she (the car) would do me for many years BUT I do do lots of miles (93K on the clock now). I wan t to make sure that I look after her properly, my husband used to do all of this stuff, he always seemed to have his head in the engine!

A garage I use and trust is the Chester Mot and service centre on Crane Bank / Sealand road.

I dont have much done as I do most myself, but they do seem fair and trustworthy and are not one to rip you off in my experience.

As mentioned elsewhere, I use Buckley Tyres when I need alignment, but take a known good set of parameters for them to adjust to as the machines tolerances are set to wide by default.

You can also ask here for any jobs to be done, Elite Pete for example may be able to do some weekend work for you.

Thanks, Jimbob, for the quick answer. My husband used to work at Watergate Motors which used to be next door to John at Crane Bank (was the workshop that's on the left hand side before they joined!), mind that was 30 years ago!!!
