Hot ignition key

Sometimes I notic that after use my ignition key is hot on the blade part and so is the barrel. Don't no if any one has come across this or what's causing it. I hop someone can shed some light. Cheers Ian  :)

Take the cowl off and check the condition of the ignition switch.

Hopefully it is not at fault but...... I have flashbacks to an occasion when I was the passenger in an Astra when the ignition switch failed and filled the car with smoke. Fortunately the driver was manouvering and was able to switch off and get out as it only took about 3 seconds to blanket the screen  :o

Sorry to drag up an old thread, i have noticed that my key is getting quite hot whilst in the ingnition barrel, has anyone found out as to what could be causing this?
