I would have thought you would be making your plans from the ground up, with the bigger considerations being handling (wheels/tyres/suspention) of the extra power on the move, and then the braking as I would have thought you were having to cope with at least 50% + extra power (dunno what the Monaro output is, sorry)

Am looking forward the the pictures  when you start building.

Just thinking, Have a chat with B+H Autokraft in Doncaster they do a lot of yank V8 coversions.  Run the idea past them (they may be cheaper than you thinkk for the LS engine as well) whilst chatting they will let you know the area's to pay attention to.

I have had a tour round thier place and at the time they were fabricating the frame work for 2 dragsters and building a 3000BHP Supercharged engine for one of them.

They have all the contacts for impotigng the Engines and boxes etc.

Deffo worth a chat with at least even if just to locate an engine.

I will not fit without MAJOR engine bay work.

The Monaro and Commodire was based on an Omega chassis, BUT it is modified making it longer and  wider thats why the LS1 and LS2 V8 fits.

If you are intent on buying the engine then look for a Pontiac GTO from 2004 (IIRC) onwards as this is the re-badged Monaro in he USA

There is an Astra coupe with the GTO engine being (been) built, its taken ages and cost a fortune.

Your best bet is to buy  a VT or VX Commodore as it has almost the same looks as an Omega and comes with the GenIII LS1 V8.

But if you want to chuck money at a car a far easier conversion is the Lotus Carton twin turbo engine, been done before but sameish power for a lot less money

I was thinking of a lotus carlton engine but i want something a bit different. I've seen a carlton engine in an omega before and it does look good but i really want this particular engine because
     1./ I have never seen it before.
     2./ I am a big fan of the monaro and the chevy engines.
But if it doesnt go to plan then i will give the lotus carlton engine a go.
Funny you should mention the commodore because my mum and dad are moving to new zealand (I might be going, dont know yet) and could get hold of a commodore for me. :y

Consdering you can get a decent facelift for 1k, +4k for the engine.

Odds and sods, say total 6k, you have a BMW M5 type performance for 6k!

Do it mate.. if i was rolling in wades of cash i would do it!

I would also keep the styling standard.... and leave the 2.2 badge on ;)

That's not a bad idea, i would love to own an omega and monaro, i'll think about that :y

.. But the V6 Commodore engine is a dog. I'd rather have an Omega. If you're going to buy one get a proper one with a V8.  :y

Perhaps I was being unfair. Appologies.  :-[ It's not an improvement on the V6 in the Omega IMHO, so in the original context of the thread probably not worthy of consideration.
