« on: 02 July 2013, 20:06:17 »

but went out to the car (not locked at work) to go back home the other day, put key in, all lights came up then went out as per usual, and turned her over, nowt, nothing, ziltch, engine turned over, but did not catch. sugar. locked it up, went for a cuppa, and the lad working with me said was prob the immobilizer, lol, It was, opened car, put key in, and drove off. Must have been a ghost or something. I had only got there 2 hrs before. Time for new key fob I think, just incase ???

Immobilisers work or they don't. Have you done a pedal test? Could be a failing crank sensor  :-\ :-\

Buy a genuine sensor  ;) it's cheaper in the end and you only do it once.  :y

Could also be a loose immobilisor chip in the key fob  ... check its not worked loose ... a little drop of superglue may solve the problem .. as the chip "moves" inside the key whilst the fob is in your pocket .. with luck its in the right place when you go to start .. or it won't ..... took me weeks of intermittent starting to find that out ... :(

Don't put money on it. I had a genuine one fail after about 3 months.

Likewise, except mine only lasted weeks!  Another genuine Vx one then ok

hi all,
many thank you's for the ideas  :y. Its been a few days now, and am waiting for the car to be "read", but what happened just seemed like a one off, but better be safe than sorry. Its started within a turn of the key, so it does seem like it was the locking system, but am having it checked out next week, as I will be going away on holiday for a few days, and do not fancy coming back to a "non starter" :(

Have you done the 'pedal trick' on your car? It might just show you a crank sensor fault.  :y
