Failed the test
« on: 10 July 2013, 12:57:05 »

Not the Omega, the 206.
It's a bitter sweet thing - bitter that it didn't pass, but often sweet as the failure list could be extensive!
On this occasion I'm a bit disappointed but no point in worrying about it. So having paid £30.50 for the initial, full test, I've now to pay a further £18.50 for the retest. And the failure items?
Just the one ........ offside headlight bulb defective  :-X

I think that's maybe why we have no advisories but an automatic retest.
It all adds up!

Where I go that would have been replaced during the test for the cost of the bulb but everywhere is different I suppose

I know. Tested on Monday night, and all ok, but didn't get round to doing it this morning again as I was late home from work. Still, could have been worse.

Don't they only charge a retest if you take the car away? Surly you could have changed the bulb there and bingo it's done :y

My pesky number plate lamp played this trick on me this year..  ::)

If the tester hadn't noticed that the exhaust was only hanging by a thread I'd have been annoyed with it. ;D

It isn't carried out at garages. Its done at govt. test centres by people employed to do nothing but MOT testing. It tends to be a lot more rigorous than the test on the mainland. :y
People in Norn Irn often nip across to Scotland to get a ticket from a garage around Stranraer,as its less hassle, and you don't have to wait so long to book an appointment in peak times.
