Spanner light
« on: 15 July 2013, 15:42:01 »

Hello all, having just done the cambelt and fitted new coil packs and given various things a good clean, I re-connected the battery and started up - engine running great but l have the 'spanner light' on..everything is connected properly and the engine is certainly not in 'limp mode'. Anybody any ideas? It's a manual so not a gearbox fault..and starts so not immobiliser, also no codes are showing - engine running great?? Could I switch it off with a tech 2 if needs be? All advice appreciated!

Sorry it's a 3.2 - pedal trick and code reader showed no codes at all..

Not that then. If the throttle body plug is left off it brings the spanner light on but pedal trick won't work.

...i presume you have constant flashing from the spanner light when pedal tricking?

Ok only just had time now to have a proper look, can find nothing. Pedal trick makes spanner light flash slowly 4 times - then nothing. Advice appreciated

If you are daft like me you have forgotten to connect something. In my case it usually the knock sensor - that's the lead that comes from behind the belt tensioner.
