Hello everyone

Last Friday I went to Kwik Fit to have my air conditioning re-gassed. They confirmed that it was low on gas and hooked up their machine to extract the old gas and replace it. After about half an hour they said there is a problem. The lower pipe valve is leaking and they are unable to top up. Fair enough I thought, just need to replace the valve. They informed me that unlike the top pipe,the bottom pipe has the valve incorporated within the pipe and would need to be completely replaced. Is this correct? Got a price from Vauxhall for £180.00 for the pipe alone  :'(. The car is an Omega 2.6 2001 facelift.

Have you tried ebay second hand?
Can you get the part nubmer from Vauxhall

No. That's not correct. The value is available on its own for a few quid. I'm away at the moment & on my phone so it's difficult to search. But have a search through the site & you'll even find a picture & a part number. Ensure you support the boss with a 17mm spanner as you un-screw the valve with a 15mm socket ;)

And personally I wouldn't use KwikFit for anything ;) 

If you look in their car park you will see the staff's horses tethered there ;D

Had to change mine last year - it unscrews from the pipe. I got my from scrap yard, but only because I wanted it that day.

Dealers normally stock, as its used on other models.

Unless circumstances dictate having to use a 2nd hand one, given the cost and the fact that you should be able to get new one within a couple of days, always buy new :)

I was told the same as you by a local air-con 'specialist'. I question it with him, but he seemed certain that the whole pipe had to be replaced. It just didn't seem possible that a simple service part like a fill valve should be part of a £100+ pipe, so I had a proper look myself. Didn't take long to find that it came out. The next hard bit was trying to get my local Vauxhall part dept to find it ..... they couldn't, so I phone Andy C who assisted them.  ;) ;)

part number for HP port valve is 13277003. the LP  port valve is a standard valve core.
