Hi All

I am new to Omega's and bought a 2003 MV6 2 weeks ago.  Today pulled off my drive and noticed chugging at low revs with a loss of power.  The Engine Management light then flashed for 10 seconds, and then stayed on permanently.  Turned car off and on again, the same happened.

Anyway drove it to work with no over heating or anything, just chigging at low revs with a small loss of power.

On the way home from work, Engine management light was permenantly on as soon as the car was started with the same chugging at lows revs.  Strangely, when I pulled over half way home, and started the car again when hot, the chugging has disappeared and full power restored (Engine Management light still on though).

Went out this evening, same chugging again.  As soon as car gets to normal temp, I turn off and on again, then normal power restored. 

Any pointers as to what this could be?

Sorry, Pedal Trick??  What does that mean?

Is leaking cam covers expensive?  I only paid 600 quid for the car, so if it is anything too expensive, I will probably sell it for a few hundred quid to any memeber that is intrested!

Hi Guys, thanks for the advice.  I am new to this so the technical jargon is a little beyond me, sorry, lol.

Did the pedal test, and flashed as below;

What does this mean?

ok, so could that be?  I am no mechanic, but my brother is handy when it comes to cars.  What do you suggest I ask him to do, or would you advise it needs to be looked at by a garage?

Cylinder two is front pas side, and ecu is reporting an ignition/miss fire problem.

Remove the passenger side coil PAC. (Remove two bolts from the the plenum, silver thing with evo tech written on the top of the engine, and use these to screw into the coil PAC bolt holes and pull it out) its the awkward side as the cable tray is in the way, so he'll need to be patient. (Check the drivers side one too while he's there, much easier)

Examine coil PAC for damage, cracks, rust, splits and that the rubber boots are sound no splits.
Examine the spark plug wells for signs of oil, or water damage, remove plugs and examine for same.

What's the service history/miles on the car? Plugs? And coil pacs? Are they due to replace or damaged basically?

As chrisgixer says, remove coil pack for visual inspection. That side is a bit fiddly, sadly.
