Juddering
« on: 17 July 2013, 11:50:20 »

Hey guys - anyone got any idea what this might be?

driving along on mway yesterday, about 30m from home at 65mph - went to overtake and there was a real juddering coming from the car and the revs wouldn't go above 3000rpm- too juddery! Eased off, pulled back in to slow lane and cruised at 2000rpm - no problem. As I got closer to home, the juddering was creeping in at lower rpm -first 2500rpm then even at 2200rpm. Whilst cruisng at 50mph, put the car in N and revved the engine all the way up 5500rpm no problem. My limited knowledge leads to me assume it may be gearbox issue?

Any ideas / similar experience?

PS I have an OBDeebydooey thing, but I don't know how to use it. Quite embarrassing.  :-[

Miss fire?

Ecu won't detect a miss fire on the pre face lift, so it may not show on your code reader or via the paper clip test.

Worth checking for codes in case its something else first though.

Probably the usual oil in the plug wells.

just one more thing - it's the drivers side cam cover gasket that has gone - is there any part of the breather system that serves that side only that I may have missed when I cleaned the breather system a year ago? Cheers!

Just to clarify it is £75/80 for all the bits for genuine, PM AndyC he can get you parts delivered at trade prices.

You need to do both sides, the breather system serves both.  :)

I'd also strongly consider popping some new plugs in there too  :y

Yikes - hope I remember how it all goes back together  ;D

It is soooo much easier to get to the dis pack with the cam cover off - thought I'd chuck in a new one (and leads) while I was in that area.  :y

Cheers everyone!

just a quickie - is there any difference between the cam covers? i.e. is there a right and left side - I just noticed they have different part no's - can't remember which side came from which. Cheers!
