1. The picture actually shows a Cadillac Catera, not a Vauxhall Omega...
2. The Omega was favoured by British politicians and members of the Royal Family (Prince Charles was often driven around in a black CDX) because it was a large and comfortable 'British' car. However as OOF members know every single Omegas was built in Opel's Russelsheim factory in Germany, then re-badged as Vauxhall and shipped across to the UK... well the V6 engines were built in Ellesmere Port, but that's as British as it got.
No more worries though, as now they can proudly be driven around in India's pride and joy, the Jaguar....
To be fair, car manufacturing is now part of the global economy, with Japanese and French cars being built in the UK. And the Omega is a fine car, I had two and would have had a third one if they still made them.
But this is about being honest and not deceiving the public. Just to show you that politicians favour the smoke and mirrors approach, let the public think they drive a British car...
