M.O.T Query?
« on: 19 July 2013, 18:38:03 »

The family Corsa had it's M.O.T issued on the 26th July 2012. It expires on the 16th August 2013.

I'm taking it to the M.O.T centre  on the 24th July. My question is this......

Provided the car is healthy enough for a pass, will the new certificate run till 25th July 2014 or 15th August 2014?

25th July, as presented a couple of days too early. Present it after 26th July for it to be valid until 26th Aug 2014

I hope you're right, Mr TB.

I've always thought the issue date to be irrelevant.

It's won't you know! ,it will have the same expiry date(16th August ) 2014 :y

The only way you will get 26th August expiry date is to take it in on the 27th August this year ::)

No it will be the 16th as there is time remaining, if you had no time remaining and you went today it would expire on the 18th July next year :y

If presented for test within the span of the existing 13 month MOT will have the existing expiry date plus one year.

If presented before the anniversary of the previous 13 month issue date or one month before its 'birthday' then will be a 12 month ticket. Had similar with daughters car when presented for retest one day too early when a 12 month ticket would be issued. When retested 12 hours later, the computer man from Del Monte said 'yes' and allowed a 13 month ticket..... :y

Had a rethink. Issue is 26th July and expiry less than a year and a month later with a '13 month' ticket.

As long as test date is one month or less prior to cars birthday or date of first registration then will get a 13 month test. If one day earlier than this (as was the case with my daughters car) then will get an expiry date of 12 months hence.

Hope that makes sense!!   ;D

The old certs used to say the earliest you could present in order to keep the original expiry date. Not sure if the plain ones do - I would have thought so?
