T Mobile - Other Network Charges, GRRR....
« on: 23 July 2013, 12:37:51 »

Swooped one of my Vodafone numbers over to the T Mobile Full Monty £16 pm plan recently, quiet fancied the idea of never paying more than the 16 quid a month for unlimited everything, and for reasons I wont bore you with I did keep my main number with Vodafone on a special sub 10 pm deal with them untill they launch 4G.

Any way couple weeks ago I managed to lose my Vodafone Mobile, having gone through all the ringing it, texting it, no joy,  just in case I decided best thing would be to get the Sim deactivated asap.

On Vodafone you call for free 191 from your handset to get hold of them, or you can call 07836 191191 from another Network, so used the T mobile to call the 07836 number which is a standard Vodafone Prefix, took a couple of attempts to get through to the right dept, but out come was good, Sim on Out Going Bar and Phone put on Black List, and was given a password in case I found the phone, and new Sim on its way in the post.

So gets the T Mobile bill few days back, and you guessed it, The three calls to Vodafone cost me 6.50, 8.75 and 16.45 plus Vat for a for a few minuets chat with them, this is on top of my !6.00 pm (which has now been increased to 17.00 pm even though Im only 3 months in to the contract).

So, not happy, I challenged it with T mobile, there saying that number was charged as being roaming overseas on there system, She tried to explain (think she was in the Philippines) that if a Call Centre gets diverted overseas you will end up paying for the International part of the call with T Mobile and theres nothing she can do about it, full stop.

Now I know for a fact Vodafone is one of the few companies that dont use Overseas Call Centres, there all based in the UK, a quick call to Vodafone comfirmed this. 'All our Call Centres in the UK and the 07836 is a standard UK Mobile prefix'

Looks like Im up a Gum Tree with out a Paddle on this one, this cant be right, anyone else had similar experiences of this and if so what was the outcome, not taking this one lying down.

 >:( >:( >:( >:(

Quiet possibly LD, think I'll do a bit more home work before going down that route.

Made me giggle though when I spoke to Vodafone about this, the guy just pissed himself laughing and then had to profusely apologise for He's behaviour.

Yea, just been reading my Terms and Conditions, Im on the £32 full monty which I did get for £16. although thats gone up to 17.

Says here all standard UK Mobiles and LL begining with 01,02, other 08 numbers get charged at 40p, a bit steep, think Voda were charging me 8p or something.

So according to T Mobile, if I ring a 0845 number and it gets answered in New Delhi or somewhere, I foot the bill for the Overseas leg.  :-\

Can't say that I have had that specific problem myself :-\

Their out of contract calls are a bit steep, compared to some, but they (should) have made that plain enough when you signed up :-\

Why not, you've paid for it and its unlimited, and they dont seem to mind if you tether either, just need to be carefull they dont restrict you to 3g speed though (44kbs) if you hammer it, till the end of each month.

Currently doing same with a Virgin PAYG Sim (also on the EE Network), top up £10 and get Unlimited Mobile Internet the following month (99.9 GB) and 300 texts, when you login online it gives you a Bar graph of how much data you use, even though I hammer it, it doesn't even dent the allowance, and you get to keep your Tenner as well. been doing that for about 8 months now,  plus Ive now got a Virgin Sim card with 80 quid credit on it that I dont know what to do with?  ;D

next time phone the Freephone number.

What Freephone number?, if its 08 something still would have cost me 40p a min, hence why I thought the 07836 would be part of my mins.

On the phone to them today, been offered 2.50 per Call Credit, thats 7.50 total, as a kind gesture, rather than a full refund, better than a poke in the eye suppose. :-\

Still not convinced why I should have to pay for this, just because there system thinks a UK Number is overseas.  >:(

Stand your ground and threaten OFCOM. How are you to know that a UK mobile number is overseas?

But both I and Vodafone know its not, Voda's Call Cantres are Uk based, Newbury Berkshire and couple of other places, besides so what if the UK Mobile number is overseas, since when do we have to pay the roaming charges to call a mobile, we dont, the roaming Number pays for it.

Did mention Ofcom to T Mob (again  in the Philippines) she didn't understand who they were, think I need to speak to a UK person in the UK who speaks and understands UK English, think I'll start with EE HO

Well I got a massive £2.5 credit from T Mobile in the end,  >:(, bill came this morning so thought I'd check it and make sure the credits been added.

I also tried to call my Dad since then and found Idont have International Calling assigned to my phone,  ??? just a minuet, Ive just been charged for making a International call on a UK number?? WTF.

So back on the Phone to them again, blah, blah, got no where, 'Yes you dont have International calling would you like us to add this?', me, well yes, going to need it, 'Ok, but will will need to send a new Sim out to you', me, Yea, whatever. :o :-\

So back to Bill today,

£-2.50 Credit, hurray,
wait whats this,
£+10.50 Replacement Sim.
£+8.51 Outside of allowance
£+8.51 Outside of allowance

Back on the phone, the cheeky Muppets have charged Sim Replacement, and 2 lots of Admin charges, one to activate the Sim, the other to change the plan for adding Overseas Calls.

Is it just me being unlucky will T mobile or is this the rubbish that goes on with EE now, kind of glad I kept one of my original Vodafone numbers now, will be dumping T Mobile at the end of the 12 months contract, Full Monty or no Full Monty.  >:( >:(

Whilst on the subject of Vodafone, I managed to use up all my minuets a week ago by not pressing the End button on the mobile one Sunday Night,  ::), wondered why I didn't receive any calls on Monday, still connected for about 12 hours  :-[ :-[

Not really wishing to pay 35p per minuet outside off my allowance, I phoned Voda and asked if they could do anything for me, so nice to speak to someone who speaks proper English, anyway after a few minuets, the Guy came back and said, Ok, we will add another 300 Uk minuets for 30 Days, that will be £2.50 on top of your Bill next month Sir,  :y :y and relax.  :D, for now.
