Oil for Omega 3.0 V6
« on: 23 July 2013, 20:02:16 »

Can I use 5W30 Fully synthetic oil in my omega?
I normally use genuine vauxhall oil, but halfords have a sale on the above oil:

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_907231_langId_-1_categoryId_165581

£10 for 4L

Guess so, but Vx 10W40 semi is the OOF recommended oil - proven to be good for not "clogging" up breathers, leading to other issues.

You'll need more than 4 Lits for an oil change though ;)

What rubbish. GM patents are first class on oils and lubricants as stated so many times on here. We are also lucky enough to get trade club prices on top of that.

From tc web site...

OIL - 4 FOR THE PRICE OF 3
14/07/2012 | Special Offer

Our market-leading oil offer is exclusive to Trade Club members and continues until further notice.

It's a simple offer - every time you order four cans of the same specification oil, you only pay for three.

Offer available on 5-litre sizes of 10W-40 Semi synthetic and 5W-30 dexos2, the next generation in engine oil.

5W-30 dexos2
SM/CF A3/B4/C3
5-litre part number 93165557
Offer price for four cans £61.38

Equivalent to
£3.07/litre

10W-40 Semi synthetic
SL/CF A3/B3/B4
5-litre part number 93165216
Offer price for four cans £40.23

Equivalent to
£2.01/litre
All prices exclude VAT. Prices valid from 3rd August 2012.

Don't believe the marketing hype surrounding oil. Or anything else for that matter. Especially not that Castrol shite. Mayo with your oil sir? ::)

Personally I would prefer fully syn over semi but would absolutely NOT use the dexos 2 (which is C3 spec) for the reasons I gave here: http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=113301.msg1429257#msg1429257

From that thread
....here is what I have decided on oil having listened and looked around.

The problem you have is, you've been so deliberately argumentative on here since arrival, that none of the regular members here believe a single word you say. I personally don't believe for one minute your capable of listening to anything, but thats besides the point. That being, that there are far more respected members here who's opinions and advice are given based on hard, first hand experience.

That's not to say we shouldn't keep an open mind of course, but blindly taking the opposite view on any opinion offered is hardly going to convince anyone here based on that alone. The danger being less experienced members may be drawn in by your view.

IMO. That ain't on, Mr dbdb.

After reading all this, I'll give the Halfords oil a try (for the price and reviews, it's very tempting).
If I find its not working out, I'll drop an update as well as another oil change.

Just to add, Quidco offer 3% cashback (only 30p of each 4l can - but every little helps).
