Hot weather & my fault is back!. 2.5TD
« on: 30 July 2013, 23:23:02 »

This is a fault that reared its ugly head last year during the hot weather :(, When she has had a good run on a hot day If turn her off for a few minutes then start her back up I have no accelerator pedal for maybe 30 seconds, Then the engine seems to give a little jolt & then all is back to normal again, Its obviously heat related but other than that i'm stumped :-\, Any suggestions?.

I had something similar in the TD last week in the hot weather, about 20 secs of 'reluctant' acceleration. I hadn't noticed it in my previous 14 years of ownership. :-\

Did your accelerator do absolutely nothing or could you still rev it up?, Mine does have its moments driving in really hot weather where it goes all sluggish but i'm putting that down to maybe having no fan on the intercooler. :-\

Could be something simple like a loose wire, any chance of paper-clipping it?

Ive done the paperclip test & nothing shows up at all & i cant see it being a loose wire to be honest as it only happens when everything is hot.

It did after 5 seconds or so, but up to then it was very reluctant been absolutely fine since. We've just been to Kent and back, and apart from the fuel leak off pipe posted, operated faultlessly. :y
