MOT advice on my 2.2
« on: 05 August 2013, 09:19:55 »

Hi,

I've had my Omega around 6 weeks now, The MOT is due in a couple of months. From the advisory list below is there anything to be concerned about / need looking into now?

Test was done by Halfords last year  ::). I certainly won't be taking her there  :D

Advisory Notice issued

Offside Rear Brake pipe slightly corroded (3.6.B.2c)

Nearside Rear Brake hose has slight corrosion to ferrules (3.6.B.4e)

Offside Rear Brake hose has slight corrosion to ferrules (3.6.B.4e)

Slight imbalance front brakes

Uneven application rear brakes

Slight movement o/s & n/s front wheels

Thanks in advance as always  ;)  :y

Unless your brake pipes are virtually rotten, just wire brush them & wipe a little grease on them.

Brake imbalance could be various things, if it was only slight - which isn't uncommon - it could be discs that are past their best (look at the inside face)

'slight movement' of front wheel  ..... Too ambiguous. How & when was the movement? I'd expect hem both to move a lot when the steering wheel is turned  ;D  ;D

My thoughts exactly Andy but there you go  ;D  ::)

From checking the service bills the front discs and pads have been changed so hopefully that cures that issue  :-\

Oh well!  :( If they are as good as the pattern discs that I fitted to my Senator years ago (before access to TC) new GM discs & pads are about £100  ;) ;)

Previous owner had them fitted by Evans Halshaw VX costing £110 for the set  :y

I'll will get the brake pipes looked and greased in time for the MOT  :y

That's my thoughts too. But 'slight movement of wheel' isn't good enough for a fail/advisory  ;) ;)
