Time to move on

Well I would like to start by saying thanks for all the help with my Omega over the past two years. I have had a number of small yet potentially extremely pricey faults solved by the advice on here, including head gasket failure!

The time has come to pass on my Omega and the new owner collected him today,  I hope they will have as many trouble free comfortable cruising miles as I did.

I haven't had my (ex The Boys) old tractor for a few years now but I do very occasionally look in to see how everyone's getting on. Amazing to see so many familiar faces still, or should that be avatars.

Tbh I really am missing the old girl and am now relegated to driving a mondeo 2.0lx on a W that cost me £360 but beggars can't be choosers I suppose. In all fairness the mondeo is in great condition, one owner, full and up to date service history and a doddle to work on.

But if I had the funds I would snap up another 2.5td elite in a heartbeat. Best car I ever owned (bar the Audi S2)

Thanks, it was my dads. It was a 100e pop he brought as a winter project a couple of years back then sold it to somebody who wanted the reg plate.

He's had a 1954 103e sit up and beg Popular for getting on for 20 years now that he found in a lock up in central London. It was a mess but he fully restored it and won a few awards with it. Rod brakes, 1172cc side valve engine, 3 speed with no synchro on first, vacuum wipers, wooden floor boards the lot.

He also has a mk1 Humber sceptre which he got a couple of years ago after an elderly chap approached him when he was on his yearly Sidevalve club holiday and said he had an old car in his garage be wanted to sell. Dad went and looked and found this Humber sceptre. 1965/C. Not a spot of rust and a fully documented 28k from new. The metallic blue paint was very flat and the carpets were falling apart so dad got these done properly and now has an 'as new' Humber in his garage.

Worse part is, I got a silly (good) offer for it against my wife's Toyota Estima (which we still have and has been a god send!) but last time I looked the car was sorn'ed when the tax I'd put on it run out and it's never been renewed, so I have a feeling it might be gone. That car was far too good to be scrapped and it surprises me as its not like the garage that took it was a main dealer, it was a bomb site garage.

No, it was the dark blue Elite tractor which had one or two engine issues before I got to it and barring the hg failing was an absolute joy to own.
