ECU interchangeability query
« on: 12 August 2013, 11:06:56 »

Our present (non-chipped) TD has a '427' ECU; and I've been given the (chipped) '427' ECU from our previous car.

Question for the OOF technical boffins:
Can the chipped unit be made to work on the non-chipped car, so that either ECU could be randomly swopped on our present car?

Just wondering really, as the chipped unit is available to moi absolutely gratis! ;)

So da next question (with inevitable predictability) is:

"Will da man with da Tech2 apparatus be at Newent?"  ::)

I think I asked this about mine Byron, only mine is the 428, presumably for an auto. I love mine since I put the full fat chip in, so I am not bothered about putting an un-chipped one in now. :y :y :y

Yes, would need the security code possibly.

Why do you want to randomly swop ECU's, just pull the chip from the new one and wack it in yours, 10 min job.

Also is your 3.5td an Auto?

'Cos the present (un-chipped) ECU is un-socketed ... and it's manual-boxed. ;)

Should be possible with the Immobiliser code and a Tech2.

But bring a socket and a decent soldering iron, just in case.
