That is interesting..... :y I notice that is dated 2013, I wonder if there has been a change in approach to keep up with modern technology............... :-\ :-\

But surely people could just say that they only watch catch up TV to the tv licence people and still watch TV and not pay for TV licensing  ??? .. Confusing  :D

I think that if you had a TV or recorder hooked up to a dish or aerial when the TV licence people come calling then be prepared to do some fast talking as I don't think that claims that you only watch catch up would cut much ice!  :-\

Although there is a dish and an aerial on my house, I do not have a TV or recorder, only a laptop and smartphone. Now the thing is, I can watch live TV on both, but whose job is it to prove that I've been watching live TV?  ::)  Innocent until proven guilty M'Lud!!  :)

And that is the truth for the OOF-Jury!  :y

Trouble is with a great deal of advertising these days it's all "Smoke & Mirrors"

I do not know who you mean, but I will comment anyway!! ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) ;)

We have covered this before on various threads, and all I can add is the official statement on the TV Licencing web site:

"Technology - devices and online

With today’s technology, you can watch TV on more devices than ever, whenever it suits you best. This means a TV Licence doesn’t just cover you to watch TV at home on a TV set. You can also watch or record television programmes as they're being shown on TV, through all of these devices:
Computers, including laptops and tablets
Mobile phones
Games consoles
Digital boxes, e.g. Freeview, Sky, Virgin, BT Vision
DVD/VHS/Blu-ray recorders.
As long as the address where you live is licensed, you’re also covered to watch TV outside your home using any device powered solely by its own internal batteries. This includes your mobile phone, laptop and tablet.
Exception: If you only watch catch-up services online, then you don’t need a licence. For example, you don’t need one to use BBC iPlayer, or ITV player, to catch up on programmes after they have been shown on TV."
