Waste of an evening
« on: 13 August 2013, 21:47:53 »

Need an item for camping at Newent. Reserve online at MK's Go Outdoors. A couple of hours later, get an email to say they haven't got any, and they will call me (still waiting).

So, immediately reserve one at Oxford. Trapse over they this evening, probably a 70m round trip, pick it up. I ask the assistant if the unit is OK, as the box looks opened, but assured its fine, and its just the packaging sometimes gets opened. Like a prat, as in a hurry, take her word for it.

Just got home, so thats 6pm to 9:15pm (did stop for a bite to eat - more expense), its one a previous customer has return as faulty.  Worse, I have all the previous customer's details, including name, address, phone number, and probably several digits of their credit card number.

Are the people that Go Outdoors employ really that retarded, as at least 2 of their staff (the picker and the sales assistant) have clearly handled this, and thats not including the staff that dealt with the exchange item back in June. breakless rather retards  >:(

I suspect now I'll have to trapse all the way back, wasting another evening and 3.5 gallons of fuel.

Did I mention that Go Outdoors is staffed by useless, breakless retards?

They ain't particularly cheap, but I like the convenience of being able to walk in and pick it up, as I'm sick and tired of dealing with retards selling on the likes of egay and Amazon Marketplace. To the point of wasting an evening and 3.5 gallons of fuel to enjoy that "convenience".

What rattles my cage is that I know how the conversation is going to start tomorrow when I call them, and they can dream on if they think I'm going to waste another evening and another 3.5 gallons over a poxy £20 item.

And then there is the data protection side of things, I'd be livid if they gave my name, address, phone number and various other details to another customer.

That's your biggest bargaining chip IMO.  The ICO will have their nuts for this, let alone the reaction of said person going to the papers once you someone lets them know ::)

No good me offering to call in there after work and splitting the journey with you is it?  :-\

I'm good at customer/shop related issues I am.  ;) ;D

They probably wouldn't let me pick up the new one without returning the open one at the same time though. Just a thought.  :-\

Walked out of Go Outdoors the one and only time I've entered a store as they claimed I had to pay for a "discount" card and sign my life away to get products at the advertised prices. >:(

What is it you ordered TB, maybe you could borrow one for the time being, I have quite a bit of camping stuff just sitting in the garage as the kids are too young for camping at the mo. Postage to you won't be a problem as i work for a courier company,  :y and i can collect it on my next Oxfordshire in-law visit.

No need, they are doing the only right thing and picking up the old one at the same time as delivering the new one.

The manager of the store did seem genuinely shocked and annoyed it had happened.
