Iirc all omega fronts are vented apart from 2.0 ?  :-\
Incorrect, *ALL* Omega fronts are vented. Pre 1998 2.0l have a smaller diameter, but remain vented.

All post 2001 V6 (so all DBW V6) have vented rears when they leave the factory.

is lack of access to trade parts.
I think you will find that getting GM parts at TC prices will become hard now...

Where is the disc relative to the middle of the caliper? If you have the correct disc fitted to the correct caliper, the disc should be more or less central to middle of the caliper. If you have a solid disc fitted to a vented caliper, then it will be offset to one side ie the difference in thickness between the solid & vented disc.

Are you sure you're not confusing solid/vented discs with those that are cosmetically crossed drilled?  :-\

Put another way, pads are about 15-18mm thick when new discs are 12mm solid and 18-20 vented.

If you can get your pinky between the caliper and the disc, then you have the wrong discs :y

After seeing an episode of "Fake Britain" a couple of weeks ago on pattern car parts, I would be loathe to buy anything that didn't come from a reputable manufacturer.

Part of the episode showed a pattern disc being tested and it failed catastrophically after being subjected to heavy braking from 50mph, the failure was the brake disc itself simply breaking in two and coming away from the hub  :o

Sounds a bit confusing I am right in saying that you can only have a problem if you combine a solid disc and a vented caliper and that the pads are the same for solid and vented discs. I also assume that you could not fit a vented disc into a solid caliper.
