They did. Fibre optic cable. Same principle. :y

Been using them in shanti town and slums for years. Good cheap idea, true enough. :)

Although very good, it doesn't solve the problem of giving light when it's needed most..... Night time!  ;D ;D

I think these cave-dwellers have got a fickin cheek. Complaining about power cuts when they're connected to the nearest lamp post for free.

Wish I'd noticed there were no street lights in our street before I moved in. :-X

Still, it's good for watching meteorites at the moment. ;D
