UPS
« on: 20 August 2013, 18:55:09 »

I ordered something on ebay, to be delivered from Poland. The seller has used UPS and, I must say, I am very impressed with their tracking system. They sent me an email with a link to their system and the level of detail is almost anal ;D
I will, of course, have to eat my words if it doesn't arrive on Thursday.

I rate UPS very highly. Couple of years ago my daughter was travelling in the USA and had her pocket picked. I sent replacement credit cards and other stuff by UPS and could follow it and know exactly if/when it was delivered. Spot on.

Having said that, I use Interlink Express for my business and cannot fault them. They even email or text the recipient with an estimated delivery time, AND the name of the driver !  :y

Some other outfits like City Link, Yodel, say no more  >:(  :-X

Used TNT to send a manifold to another Oofer, they picked up from house at 4.30pm (King's Lynn) and it was delivered to Liverpool by 10am(ish) next morning and it was only £10 which was £6 cheaper than the post office (2 day delivery scheme).
Couldn't fault them at all. :y

After singing their praises about a year ago, DPD have let me down a couple of times in the recent past, yet Yodel seem to be ok now :y

Interesting... TNTs official policy is to not collect from private addresses :-\

DPD are pretty good also.

DPD and InterLink (along with a few others) are both part of Geopost, which is owned by La Post, yes you guessed it a French company. TNT - Dutch. DHL - German. Geopost/DPD/InterLink - French. UPS - USA (I think)

Which one will end up owning Royal Mail  I wonder ?

I used to use TNT for business routinely, but then I found that they were constantly trying to screw me on price. I send quite a few parcels a week. They would agree a fixed price per consignment up to a specified weight, but then at the earliest opportunity jack it up once there was an established shipping pattern.

I would stop using them, they would call me with a deal to get the business back and the whole process would start again.  >:(

I'm now using Interlink. Apart from some small changes in fuel surcharges and deliveries to London congestion charge areas, they've stuck to the deal that was offered three years ago. Plus their online booking system is excellent. I'm not a shareholder or anything, I just think they are good.  :y ( despite the fact that they are French  ;D )
