I recently got a replacement CCR 2006 for my 03 MV6. The old one is sitting on a desk waiting for me to try and remove the CD cassette   

Everything works. BUT it will not autotune, it will not move to the next available satation etc etc

It wil tune, but only manually by moving up the frequencies by pressing the arrow button repeatedly and listening

AS does not work it just scans continuously
I have tried with RDS on and off
I have tried different "U" channels
I have tried TP on and TP off
If I find a station manually and put it into memory it does remember it but does not show the station name
I've pushed every button on and off that there is

Any ideas ? It it knackered or am I missing something stupid ?  I'm fairly familiar with these I've been driving Omegas for many years.

If it wont show station name (and rds in enabled), that points towards weak signal. Whether thats external or within the tuner, who knows.

IIRC, you also have a broken 2006, which gives scope to make one good one?

Is the aerial to the radio in the rear window with that amp thing under the back parcel shelf

Not uncommon to fracture the delicate aerial connector at the back when swapping them out

On a different note, is it normal for the head unit to switch off in one mode and switch on in another mode?

(switch off ignition with Radio playing and switch ignition back on later and CD plays)

That's what mine does sometimes!

True. If I can be arsed  Actually probably not that hard to do  . . . but not yet

Thanks. Good point. And given that they are always soooo very easy to remove . . . LOL

It may not even be broken. The plug has probably come unclipped and fallen out of the back of the radio cage.

It went pretty quickly, and I didn't know about this at the time. I wasn't going to take it just 'cos it was there.

It was a working one I only swapped with another one as I had pulled the front off of it getting it out  there were some spare CD holders there too
