How on earth are you supposed to get this stupid shite setup back together, new handbrake shoes are in, I've got the lower spring in, to loosely hold it together.

To release spring/pin earlier I used 10mm spanner to depress the spring, to rotate the pin. But re-assemble is a fraking pain

Now I can line it all up, so in theory* you should just push this back to allow the pin through, but I just can't get it to pass through. Holding the pin from behind, pushing in spring with long nose pliers, wiggle/rotate can't get the bugger through. Any tips ? 



Rest of setup has gone back together fairly easily, just this bloody pin setup.

Patience and think about what you are attempting to achieve.

Clean the crud from all parts and see if they assemble without the spring.  If its tight without the spring it will be a pain in the tits with the spring in there too.

Then take your time and assemble...

and breath...

Well if I had a swear jar, I'd be very poor now. 

All back together, I removed the lower shoe spring, then found putting the spring/pin setup far easier. Enough slack/space to use 10mm ring spanner again to compress spring, then rotate the pin.

All back together now, nice new shoes, correctly adjusted I found shoe springs very straight forward as the rest of the assembly.

Just got to do other side now, saved by dinner

I was following the guide, but I found not doing lower shoe spring first key.

It's actually not too bad, although good job I've got ratchet spanners with flexi head. Can get about 2 clicks on that hand-brake adjuster.

Yeah, I much preferred the earlier ones with the cross head that went in from the front  - until it pulled through the back-plate of course
